The Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations

Wildwood takes part in annual vocal, musicianship, and theory exams through the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Music, founded in 1886.

We believe singers should have the opportunity to build solid vocal technique and the same thorough education and musical training traditionally offered with instrumental lessons.

Mission: “The mission of The Royal Conservatory — to develop human potential through leadership in music and the arts — is based on the conviction that the arts are humanity's greatest means to achieve personal growth and social cohesion. Advancing the transformative effect that music and the arts have on society lies at the heart of everything The Royal Conservatory does.”

Examinations: “The RCM Certificate Program provides a recognized standard of musical achievement through an effectively sequenced system of study and individual student assessments, from preparatory to advanced levels. Considered the foremost music education system in Canada, the United States, and many other countries around the world, its broad use has bound together individuals from these nations with the thread of shared creative experiences.”

Santa Barbara Music Club Scholarship Competition

We believe singers should have access to competitions judged by knowledgable musicians and educators. Wildwood singers are selected each February to participate in the SBMC Scholarship Applications, a competition founded in 1969. The Scholarship Showcase each June features performances by the scholarship recipients, offering another wonderful opportunity for performance.

About: “The Santa Barbara Music Club Scholarships have provided support to deserving instrumental and vocal music students from Santa Barbara County since 1969. The scholarships are made possible by the generosity of donors who wish to provide aid and encouragement to outstanding music students from local schools and teaching studios that show promise of becoming our future soloists, orchestral musicians, opera singers, and other music professionals.”
